About Me

“Although challenges might seem overwhelming, the strength within each of us is enough to overcome anything that comes our way. Leaning on the resources around us and prioritizing our own mental health allows us to tap into those strengths and face those challenges head-on. Let's do this!”

Hi, I'm Curtis

I attended therapy as a young adult when navigating issues around my sexuality and the religious trauma I endured. I recognize how difficult it can be to find a therapist competent in addressing sexuality. Growing up lacking resources and support around my identity, I now focus on providing LGBTQ psychoeducation and support.

Ask me for a current book to help improve your relationship, and my go-to would be "Attached" by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller. This book can help you understand how our interactions with your family impact the development of attachment styles., and gives insight into how best to connect in romantic relationships. This knowledge helped me better understand myself, and I hope to help support others in learning insight and labeling patterns in the therapy room in order to enjoy healthy, fulfilling relationships.

In my free time, you can find me enjoying the local theatre and playing music with my friends. My favorite self-care plan is being outside in nature with my dog Charlie. I'll take any chance I can get to be around water or on a new hiking trail.

Education

I received my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT- For initial sessions you can expect an opportunity to explore questions you might have regarding my approach to therapy and see if we are a good fit.  Not every therapist is right and I will do my best to support connecting you with another amazing therapist if I am not the right fit for you.

You can also expect for me to explore your history and bring insight and mindfulness to what factors have impacted you in the past and are currently impacting you. After that we lean into the work together.  I walk along side you as we process through past trauma, negative self beliefs, and patterns of behaviors that aren’t moving you in the direction of your goals.  We build upon what works in service of repairing attachment ruptures and creating new positive beliefs and ways of interacting.  You have someone always in your corner here to support and challenge you along the way.

My Approach

I see the potential and strength in all my clients!

Those who work with me know I will create a safe and nurturing space for them, either in person or virtually. My client-centered, engaging, and attentive approach allows my clients to open up quickly.

I help them develop insight from patterns in their life to make changes they want to see, and I embrace a systemic focus on therapy to understand all the factors in their life that may be impacting how they are currently feeling - including their personal and family history, cultural background, and relational history. My goal is to help them identify a path to a joyful and fulfilling life.
